New Products
We have spent a lot of time talking to our customers about features and
services that they would like to see us provide. Out of these discussions, we
are designing some new products or feature sets for Directory Update. These
products are still in the design phase and it may well be a few months before we
see these come to fruition. In the meantime, we are requesting feature
suggestions. If you have thoughts on what you would like to see these
products do, please send us an e-mail to support (at) directory-update.com
with the subject: "Feature Requests".
Directory Search
Directory Search will be simple web application that will allow users to
search their Active Directory based on a number of criteria such as display
name, department, title, etc... Most likely this product will be free for
Directory Update users and available at a very low cost for non-Directory Update
users. Features and functions will include:
- Customizable output and text labels in much the same way that Directory
Update is customized.
- Photo viewer supporting (using the Active Directory jpegPhoto attribute
for data storage/retrieval.)
- View an entire Department
- Export or print a phone list
- View an organizational chart
Directory Manager
Directory Manager has been requested by many, many customers. This product
will allow a designated user (such as someone from the Human Resources
department or a departmental secretary) to update information for users to which
they have been assigned rights to update.
- Customizable management screen similar to Directory Update with
drop-down lists, validated phone number formats, customizable field labels,
etc...
- Password Reset capabilities (if the Domain Administrator permits)
- Contact management (possibly even Contact creation and deletion)
- Group management (probably not in the first release, but at some point)
Directory Update for ADAM
We are going to be porting our Directory Update product to a version that
works with Microsoft's Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) database. This
will be a separate SKU from Directory Update for Active Directory and will
probably be slightly more expensive. The interface and capabilities will be
almost identical to those found in Directory Update v1.2.6.
Directory Update
Of course we have not forgotten our flagship product. We have new features in
line for Directory Update as well. Here is a list of the features will be
incorporating in to future versions:
- Multi-domain support on a single web site. User will automatically be
directed to the correct Directory Update configuration.
- Password change features - an authenticated user can change their own
password
- Ability to update a photo in to the Active Directory jpegPhoto attribute
