Specified path is unavailable error occurs during setup

If you see a pop-up box that says "The specified path '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/DirectoryUpdate' is unavailable.  The Internet Information Server might not be running or the path exists and is redirected to another machine.  Please check the status of this virtual directory in the Internet Services Manager.", this is probably because the root of the default web site is redirected to another directory or another site.

Look in IIS Admin at the Default Web Site's properties and on the Home Directory properties.  If this has been redirected to another URL or a share on another computer, set it back to the local directory during the installation.  Then reconfigure your IIS site after Directory Update, Directory Manager, or Directory Search is installed.

Make sure you document how the default site is re-directed BEFORE changing it.  That will make it easy to change back when you are through!
